Bro! We all know a boy can’t daddy until his daddy’s dead.

Fun fact, I did an independent study in Anglo Saxon for some reason as a 17 year old, and tried to translate a page of Beowulf. Still have that dicitonary on my shelf.

This translation absolutely blew my mind. Just a fantastic translation that captures the bombast and shield rattling of the original. I was pausing to marvel and internally scream over so many lines, and Headley thematically pulls new threads from this old poem regarding masculinity and villainy. Here! Listen to the first 25 lines.
